Obōz recognizes Pennsylvania Trail Angel Roxanne Strine as Local Hero
November 14, 2024
Bozeman, Mont., (November 14, 2024) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Obōz, the True to the Trail footwear brand, has named Roxanne Strine, of York, PA, as one of its Local Heroes. Strine, a retired postal worker, is the Western Trail Coordinator of Pennsylvania’s Mason Dixon Trail and is a steward and cheerleader for trails and participation in her area.
“We salute Roxanne and her lifelong love of the outdoors and commitment to preserving it for all to share,” said Paige King, Obōz Marketing & Community Coordinator.
Strine still lives near where she grew up in western Pennsylvania, where from an early age she has been exploring and enjoying the trails that surround the Susquehanna River. An avid trail runner, in 2021 Strine completed the length of the Mason Dixon Trail, which runs near her hometown, and set a Fastest Known Time (FKT).

After years of volunteering to do trail maintenance and upkeep, Strine become the Western Trail Coordinator of Pennsylvania’s Mason Dixon Trail, where she is responsible for coordinating the upkeep of about 90 miles of trail that runs from the trail’s northern terminus in Whiskey Springs to historic Lock 15 on the Susquehanna in Airville, PA. If there are any reports of blowdowns or any other trail issues Strine assigns local trail maintainers to take care of it. If the task is too large for the maintainer she then sends in a larger team.
Strine was nominated by Michelle Cook, an Appalachian Trail ambassador, who Strine had coached high school cross country running.
Late last fall, Obōz put out a call for nominations for Local Heroes with six nominees selected. Along with being featured on Obozfootwear.com, each Local Hero receives four pairs of Obōz footwear of their choice.
