Orange Mud celebrates 7 years of the HydraQuiver
October 30, 2019
This was Orange Mud's first product, and continues to be a category of it's own today.
The HydraQuiverTM Single Barrel was Orange Mud’s first running hydration pack. The initial idea was to create a simple pack that carries quick to fill fluid, in the most stable place on your body, with quick access chest pockets, no chest straps, and rear cargo storage for your phone, cash, and keys. Founder Josh Sprague noted to his wife that “It will cost probably $50k to get the product to market, and worst case we’d have 2 packs perfectly designed for us worth $25k each.” Turns out from the business launch in January of 2012, that after 10 months it cost just over that to have our first production inventory, and fortunately the product remains a staple of Orange Mud to this day. The HydraQuiverTM is now in version 3.0, and has 4 different platforms.

About Orange Mud: Orange Mud was founded in 2012 by Josh Sprague after being driven to “Innovation through Frustration.” After years of Adventure Racing, Mountain Biking, Running and Triathlon, Josh needed a stable, comfortable, and functional pack that just wasn’t available on the market. Starting with a single bottle carrier prototype, and growing to now offer over 50 hydration packs and accessories, the mission of Orange Mud has remained the same. Create innovative products that work just as well for the elite runner as the person at the back of the pack who’s spending the most amount of time testing the true limits of themselves and their gear!
