Four-season mountain brand launches the latest in technical ski touring gear for Fall 2020
LONGMONT, Colo. (Jan. 28, 2020) – ORTOVOX, the global expert in avalanche safety equipment and technical wool for mountain sports, celebrates its 40th anniversary with the launch of its new Fall 2020 collection. Founded in 1980, ORTOVOX has long been a leader in mountain protection, offering emergency equipment, backpacks and functional wool clothing for the year-round pursuit of alpine activities. The new line builds upon these areas of expertise and includes the new Piz Boe insulated jacket and redesigned Haute Route Pack for ski touring, as well as the limited-edition Merino Terry Hoody.
“At its core, ORTOVOX is a brand rooted in taking a sophisticated approach to safety and comfort in the mountains, and we take responsibility for protecting both people and environment in how we accomplish that,” says Jonathan Degenhardt, senior marketing manager at ORTOVOX in the U.S. “Our latest product launches build upon that foundation, offering the latest in technical innovations for alpine apparel and gear while staying true to those core values.”
The Piz Boe Jacket is ORTOVOX’s best-in-class insulated jacket for cold-weather activities. Designed specifically for ski touring, the Piz Boe combines a Pertex Quantum outer with the warmth of SWISSWOOL insulation and merino stretch fabric for a comfortable, breathable and functional experience. SWISSWOOL is deeply rooted in ORTOVOX’s tradition, bringing the most functional all-natural fibers to insulation. It’s the ideal jacket for sweaty climbs and icy descents to keep your temperature (and odor) on point.
Also new for Fall 2020 is the limited-edition Merino Terry Hoody, a technical lifestyle piece created for an evening in the cabin or as a base layer for a stroll around town. The hoody is a contemporary take on a retro design made of 100-percent merino wool produced in accordance with the ORTOVOX WOOL PROMISE. This cozy hoody is part of a selected anniversary collection that will only be available in 2020, with a design and materials that pay homage to the brand’s roots.
In addition to apparel, ORTOVOX will launch an entirely new edition of the classic HAUTE ROUTE backpack, now free of harmful Perfluorocarbons(PFCs).This tried-and-true piece has been ORTOVOX’s top-selling ski touring pack since its launch, thanks to a light, strong spring steel frame, comfortable ride and feature-rich design. For Fall 2020, the pack gets a major update, with streamlined aesthetics and a redesigned back panel with O-Flex-2 technology for next-level comfort. Pair that with the redesigned hip fins that comfortably and securely encircle the body even under a heavy load, and you have a pack that will excel whether you’re ripping down the mountain or grinding through a tough ascent.
ORTOVOX will present its entire Fall 2020 collection at the Outdoor Retailer Snow Show January 29-31, 2020 in booth 35039-UL. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, ORTOVOX will also host a happy hour on Wednesday, January 29 from 4–6 p.m. in the booth. At the event, ORTOVOX will be screen printing custom merino headbands and offering drinks courtesy of Tin Cup Whiskey, with all donations going to support American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education (AIARE) avalanche education programs.
