January 27, 2021
Industry-leading brands collaborate in the support of conservation initiatives
MANCHESTER, Vt. (Jan. 27, 2021) — Orvis, the family-owned and operated outdoor retailer that specializes in fly fishing gear, and Hell’s Bay Boatworks, the renowned Florida-based boat maker, announce the launch of a new special edition skiff package that benefits Florida fisheries. The brands collaborated to design the Orvis Edition Package, which can be added to any of Hell’s Bay Boatworks Skiffs, and features unique color accents, upgraded components and an Orvis Helios 3 Rod package. Additionally, every purchase of the Orvis Edition Package includes a donation to select conservation partners that are working to promote clean water and protect Florida’s fisheries.
“I have long admired the unique work and craftsmanship of Hell’s Bay Boatworks and collaborating on this project with them was a dream come true,” says Orvis President Simon Perkins. “This partnership not only signifies a common love for getting out on the water, but a passion for craft and attention to detail that when combined create incredible experiences. Orvis and Hell’s Bay Boatworks’ shared commitment to the natural world and desire to promote conservation of our coastal waterways further reinforces the natural fit of the partnership and mutual dedication to protect what we love.”
Design work for the project started in 2020 with Hell’s Bay Boatwork’s Captain Chris Peterson and Orvis President Simon Perkins collaborating on design details and components. The design takes style cues from Orvis brand and product logos and features high-end components such as full carbon decks and SeaDek traction. The collaborative upgrade package will be available for five of Hell’s Bay Boatworks’ popular and revolutionary flats boats, and also includes an Orvis Helios 3 Rod, an Orvis Mirage Reel and an Orvis Boat Bag.
Conservation is at the core of the partnership between Orvis and Hell’s Bay Boatworks. For every special edition skiff sold, the brands will donate $500 to non-profit partners Captains for Clean Water or the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust.
“Hell’s Bay Boatworks and Orvis are both entrenched in the fight for healthy fisheries and clean water. We are excited to announce our partnership to create a skiff that exemplifies that effort and speaks to our mutual commitment to providing best-in-class products for our customers,” says Captain Chris Peterson of Hell’s Bay Boatworks.
