Outside Interactive, Inc. Debuts National Park Television Series Featuring Recording Artist Mike Posner
June 8, 2023
“Park Sessions” takes viewers to America’s most scenic locations for acoustic concerts by adventure-inspired musicians
BOULDER, CO | June 8, 2023 /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Outside Watch, the television network of Outside Interactive, today announced the broadcast premiere of Park Sessions, a new show featuring live concerts recorded off-the-grid in the remote wildlands of the most iconic national parks across the US. Premiering on June 8, the first episode stars Grammy-nominated multi-talented artist Mike Posner performing in Zion National Park in Utah.
The groundbreaking television special takes viewers deep into the park, where Posner’s transcendent sounds echo through the red-rock arches and canyons. He’s joined by the visionary co-founder of Parks Project, Keith Eshelman, who guides Mike through the backcountry and encourages audiences to embrace the great outdoors, revel in nature’s beauty, and contribute to park conservation efforts. Together, they navigate Zion’s untrodden paths, scaling peaks, plunging into the frigid water of the Virgin River, rappelling deep into slot canyons, and playing an unforgettable acoustic set in one of nature’s most unique and ideal listening rooms.
“This collaboration beautifully advances our mission to get everyone outside,” said Jonathan Dorn, SVP at Outside, the world’s foremost provider of content, events, and services for outdoor and active lifestyle enthusiasts. “The show seamlessly intertwines the profound power of music with the splendor of an unspoiled landscape, inspiring viewers to deepen their connection with nature and their commitment to conservation.”
Park Sessions is an Outside Studios Original in collaboration with Parks Project, Crooked Highways, and Global Cinema Society. The group expect future episodes to venture deep into the heart of other national parks, serving as a musical pilgrimage for artists seeking inspiration in the most breathtaking locations across the country.
The special was filmed in multiple locations in Zion, Utah, and unveils an unreleased song by Mike Posner, aptly titled I’m Still Here, which will be released as a stand-alone video on Mike Posner’s YouTube.
The ultimate objective of Park Sessions is to ignite a passion for park conservation and support the work of Parks Project, a nonprofit that has contributed more than $2.5 million to preserve treasured parklands. “Zion provided the perfect setting for Mike and I to explore a national park and get inspired to create,” said Eshelman. “This series brings us to the most epic places to record one-of-a-kind songs with musicians who are passionate about the outdoors and conservation, and the acoustics of the southern Utah slot canyons will not disappoint!“
“I’ve had the honor of playing my music all over the world – from Detroit to Mount Everest to Antarctica and everywhere in between. The massiveness of our planet never gets old. I’m humbled to have had the opportunity to play my music against one of the most breathtaking backdrops in the world at Zion, and I’m grateful to play a small part in the conservation of our national parks.” said Mike Posner.
“At Crooked Highways, we look to tell stories that both entertain and inspire people to help create a future that we all want to see,” said Ryan Gall, co-founder and CEO of Crooked Highways, “Music and the environment are two major passion points for us, and we are thrilled to work with Posner, Parks Project, and Outside.”
Park Sessions: Mike Posner in Zion National Park is produced by Crooked Highways and Global Cinema Society. It is directed by David Darg and Ryan Gall. Executive producers are Mike Posner, Keith Eshelman, Brian Furano, Garrett Darland, Ryan Gall, Rob Faris, and Ryan Dadd. Post-production and editing was done by Rob Gilmore.
