Oboz Footwear Partners with GO Outside Festival to Champion Local Trails
October 1, 2024
Roanoke, VA (October 1, 2024)/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – The Anthem GO Outside Festival, the East Coast’s largest free outdoor festival attracting over 40,000 people, happening October 18-20, 2024, invites adventure enthusiasts and families to celebrate the great outdoors. This year, the festival features a dynamic lineup of activities, workshops, and live music, all aimed at inspiring a love for nature and outdoor recreation.
We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Oboz as the Official Trail Partner. This collaboration is not just about footwear; it’s about fostering a love for nature and empowering the community to take an active role in preserving local trails.
With a shared vision of promoting outdoor recreation and environmental stewardship, Oboz and the GO Outside Festival are committed to enhancing the Roanoke area’s natural landscape. As part of this initiative, Oboz will host two beginner-friendly trail projects that invite community members to roll up their sleeves and contribute to local conservation efforts:
- Invasive Species Removal at Mill Mountain: Join us on Saturday, October 19th at 11 AM at the Discovery Center on Mill Mountain to help restore the health of the trail system by removing invasive plants.
- Trail Building at Explore Park: On Sunday, October 20th at 1 PM, lend a hand in building new trails in preparation for the upcoming USAC Mountain Bike National Championships in summer 2025.
As a token of appreciation, all participants will receive a pair of Oboz x Black Folks Camp Too Unity Blaze insoles, designed to promote inclusivity and inspire more people to explore the great outdoors.
In addition to the trail projects, Oboz will lead guided hikes on both days, offering participants a chance to explore the trails while testing out Oboz footwear and learning about local conservation initiatives.
Visitors can also engage with Oboz at the Festival Basecamp in Elmwood Park throughout the weekend, where trying on Oboz shoes will contribute to the One More Tree program, planting a tree for each pair tried. Plus, attendees can personalize their own Oboz bandanas at the Adventure Outpost in Explore Park on Sunday.
“We are excited to partner with the GO Outside Festival and make a meaningful impact on the local trail network,” said Scott Wifling, Outreach and Education Coordinator at Oboz. “Our dedication to preserving the outdoors aligns seamlessly with the festival’s mission, and we can’t wait to connect with the Virginia community and promote sustainable outdoor adventures.”
Pete Eshelman, director of Roanoke Outside, added, “This partnership with Oboz not only enhances our festival experience but also underscores our commitment to conservation and community engagement. Together, we’re inspiring a new generation of outdoor enthusiasts and ensuring our trails remain vibrant for years to come.”
