Pacsafe® Celebrates 20th Anniversary by Introducing First Recycled Bags and Giving Away a Worldwide Trip

Seattle, WA – January 23, 2018 – For two decades Pacsafe has been at the forefront of innovating anti-theft carry solutions and helping people around the world enjoy life’s adventures knowing their gear is safe.  To commemorate this milestone, the company is unveiling a recycled bag and giving away a trip around the world.

Pacsafe® began in early 1998 when co-founders, Magnus McGlashan and Rob Schlipper partnered to introduce eXomesh® to the world. This innovation was inspired by Rob’s invention of a lockable, stainless-steel net that fit externally over a backpack.  They chose a turtle for the Pacsafe® logo as a tribute to the sea creatures who navigate the world with their protective homes on their backs. The constantly moving, forever exploring mindset became part of the brand’s DNA, not just in travel, but in developing and improving quality products as well.

In honor of their inaugural product eXomesh®,  Pacsafe® is proud to introduce its first recycled bag – the 20^th Anniversary Edition Travelsafe™ 3L (MSRP $69.95). It’s made from Econyl® fabric, material created from recovered pre- and post-consumer waste including ghost fishing nets, which have been left or lost in the ocean by fishermen. These nets pose a threat to sea turtles especially vulnerable to entanglement.  Travelsafe™ is a lockable, portable safe that can be anchored to any immoveable object. Whether staying in a hotel, sharing bunks in a backpacker hostel, or at the beach wanting to go swimming, 360° eXomesh® technology keeps things protected so life’s adventures can be experienced with peace of mind. Pacsafe® will also launch a recycled 28L Vibe backpack (MSRP $129.95). One hundred percent of profits from the two recycled bags will go to Pacsafe’s Turtle Fund, which provides support to conservation projects of one of the planet’s most intrepid explorers.

Pacsafe launched the Turtle Fund in 2014 to support global conservation efforts to protect endangered sea turtles. The company awards grants to sea turtle conservation projects.  Since 2014, Pacsafe has donated more than $100,000 dollars to eight organizations in the United States, Costa Rica, Mexico, French Polynesia, Maldives, Nicaragua, and Philippines.

Product Highlights 

The Travelsafe 3L has 360 eXomesh® technology to protect from slash-and-grab theft and a soft interior liner to protect valuables. It can accommodate up to a 10-inch tablet and comes with a TSA accepted three-dial combination lock.

The Vibe 28L has a fold-open main compartment with internal organization, two exterior accessory pockets, padded laptop sleeve, expandable exterior water bottle pocket, and padded shoulder straps that can be easily stowed during transit.  Its smart security features include Carrysafe® slashguard strap with Dyneema®, eXomesh® slashguard, Inter-locking zip pullers, LockNLeave strap, PopNLock Security Clip, Roobar™ Sport locking system, Secure Zip Tab, RFIDsafe® blocking pockets and material

From January 26 through February 23, 2018 travelers are invited to submit a 60-second video sharing their individual “Be More” declarations for 2018.
