Boulder, CO (December 12, 2024) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ — PAKA, the sustainable apparel brand best known for its performance-based alpaca fiber gear, announces upgrades to its award-winning Apu Parka, the warmest ethically-insulated jacket in the world. Powered by 130 GSM of PAKAFILL® alpaca fiber insulation, this high-performance outerwear is the first-of-its-kind, bluesign®-certified with a 100% recycled, PFAS-free 10,000mm waterproof stretch shell.
Since its debut, the Apu Parka has set a new standard for sustainable, high-performance outerwear, earning the 2023 ISPO Award for its innovation in functionality and traceability. PAKAFILL® is naturally moisture-wicking—repelling condensation and insulating even when wet to ensure safe, reliable protection in temperatures as low as -20F. Each Apu Parka includes a QR code on its hangtag that links customers to a map pinpointing where the alpaca fiber insulation came from and its corresponding alpaca herd in the Andes.
“PAKAFILL® has been one of our greatest innovations as a natural fiber brand,” commented Kris Cody, PAKA Founder and CEO. “Up until now, the outerwear industry has relied on mainly two options for insulation: goose down, which requires killing geese, or synthetics, which are derived from fossil fuels. With PAKAFILL®, it’s not only more ethical, but also tests warmer than synthetic battings. We’re very proud to take this evolution of outerwear a step further.”
The Apu Parka blends technical performance with thoughtful design. The stretchy softshell outer and gusseted armholes allow for ease of movement, while pit zips provide ventilation. A drop-back hem with dual adjustable draw cords, internal cuffs with thumbholes, and a draft collar ensure superior warmth retention. The helmet-compatible hood features a stiffened brim for full coverage without compromising visibility. Each Apu Parka is accented with PAKA’s signature Inca ID, handwoven by Quechua weavers to celebrate the heritage of the company’s origins in Peru.
The Apu Parka is available in Women’s (Black, Forage, Noni, Amethyst, Navy) and Men’s (Black, Navy, Wood, Puma, Maca Red) at $349 online on www.pakaapparel.com/.
