Pale Blue Earth Charts Course for Growth

February 24, 2022

Strong sales throughout the year, an increase in retail presence, and a true environmental impact helped this young startup take off in 2021

Park City, UTAH (February 24, 2022) /OUTDOOR SORTSWIRE/ – Pale Blue Earth, the startup creating sustainable, rechargeable alternatives to disposable alkaline batteries, wraps up 2021 by recapping significant growth, momentum, and success in 2021. Thanks to strong sales quarter after quarter, Pale Blue Earth is positioned to make a significant impact on its business and the planet in 2022.

After a successful crowdfund in 2019 and a 2020 launch, Pale Blue Earth reported 772% organic (non-crowdfunded) growth in 2021. Throughout the year, Pale Blue Earth made strides to expand its online and physical retail presence. Pale Blue Earth products are sold in over 40 storefronts nationwide, with that number slated to steadily increase throughout 2022. International sales are also expected to grow in 2022. Pale Blue products are currently available in six international markets including Canada, Japan, New Zealand, France, Switzerland, Norway, Finland, Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands with greater expansion in Europe and Asia planned for 2022.

“Every day, more consumers are waking up to the idea that single-use products are a thing of the past”, said Co-Founder and CEO, Tom Bishop. “Whether they are motivated by their wallets or the planet, the outcome is a positive change for all. We are committed to growing as a company, and continue providing consumers a mechanism to reduce their consumption of single-use products and non-renewable energy.”

Pale Blue Earth’s flagship rechargeable smart batteries address a serious issue: the continued growth of the single-use battery industry. Despite the fact that many consumer electronics — like smartphones — now use rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, single-use battery sales (most commonly, alkaline batteries) are still powering along. Industrywide, the alkaline battery market is predicted to grow from $17.3 billion in 2019 to $24.61 billion in 20231. This poses an inherent risk for our lands and waterways. Americans alone throw away over 10 million batteries every day and these batteries make their way into landfills and can leach heavy metals like lead, cadmium, copper, zinc, and nickel.

Unlike alkaline disposables, Pale Blue Earth rechargeable smart batteries have a cycle life of 1,000 charges. In 2021 alone, Pale Blue Earth sold enough batteries to eventually keep tens of millions of single-use batteries out of landfills.  Pale Blue Earth is working hard to refine its products with additional quality of life upgrades, faster charging, and new accessories. The updated products will increase ease of use and provide an enhanced consumer experience.
