POC Delivers Innovation in Helmet, Goggle Technology for 2017-2018

Park City, UTAH (January 24, 2017) — Building on its mission to do all it can to save lives and reduce the consequences of accidents for gravity sports athletes and cyclists,  POC, a leading manufacturer of ski and cycling helmets, eyewear, body armor, and accessories, introduces two technologies for skiers and riders in its 2017-2018 collection. SPIN is a helmet technology created to counter the effects of oblique and rotational impacts to the head, and Clarity is a lens technology for goggles which optimizes contrast for performance and race goggles.

Working with medical experts in the POC Lab, POC created SPIN to counter oblique impacts to the head. It uses SPIN pads placed in precise locations throughout the helmet. The pads shear in any direction to minimize the effects of an oblique fall by allowing the helmet to move relative to the head. SPIN technology will be available in five separate helmet models for 2017-2018.

Clarity lens technology was developed in collaboration with Zeiss to provide highly-tuned and specific base tints to enhance contrast and light. Clarity will come in two categories, Clarity and Clarity Comp, which have varying base tints optimized for all day precision on the mountain or intense short term competition. Clarity will be available in the all new Orb goggle for 2017-2018 as well as various existing goggles.

In addition to SPIN and Clarity, POC will introduce POC Layer, a base layer system to protect ski racers from cuts and abrasions, and a special collection of products in partnership with the American Downhiller Organization to support emerging alpine racers.
