POC Presents New Helmets, Safety Innovations for Winter 2018/2019
January 22, 2018
PARK CITY, Utah (January 22, 2018) — POC, a leading manufacturer of ski and cycling helmets, eyewear, apparel and protection, announces its 2018 snow collection featuring two new helmets incorporating its patent-pending SPIN technology for freeride and alpine race and several new safety innovations. The collection also includes the expansion of its Clarity lens technology from two to nine goggles.
“Innovation is the cornerstone of our development process and how we seek to deliver on our mission to do all we can to reduce the consequences of accidents for gravity sports athletes, and cyclists,” said Jonas Sjögren, POC CEO. “The Obex SPIN, Super Skull SPIN and the other exciting innovations we will present this week are perfect examples of how we seek to use the latest technologies and material for cutting-edge safety products.”
The Obex SPIN, is specifically designed for skiers and snowboarders looking for the perfect balance in protection, weight, comfort and goggle compatibility for all-day use, whether in-bounds or in the backcountry. The Obex SPIN incorporates POC’s SPIN technology to help reduce the effects of rotational forces on the brain, as well as an in-mold, EPS foam liner for impact protection.
The Super Skull SPIN is designed for alpine racers to perform in the most demanding race conditions. It uses a carbon fiber shell to save weight, and features POC’s patent-pending SPIN pads in the helmet interior. A multi-impact EPP liner coupled with POC’s VPD System layer impact-absorbing system delivers protection from repetitive, oblique, linear and high and low energy impacts in an extremely lightweight package. The Super Skull SPIN is the culmination of over a decade of research and working closely with medical experts in POC’s scientific and medical forum, POC Lab.
Other highlights from the collection include the Level 1 certified VPD System Back protector. Made of out POC’s impact-absorbing VPD System material, the back protector is malleable and with body heat, adapts to the shape of the wearer’s body. POC has also expanded the use of its Clarity lens technology in its goggle range. Clarity was launched last season in two goggle models, but will be available in 2018/2019 in nine goggle models.
POC will present Obex SPIN, Super Skull SPIN and the entire snow collection at the Outdoor Retailer + Snow Show in Denver, Colorado January 25 – 28. For media appointments, please contact Patrick.king@backbonemedia.net.
