Portland Design Works to Launch New Tandem Mice Softgoods Line at MADE Bike Show, August 23-25
August 22, 2024
The Steamboat Willie-inspired collection will debut online on August 27th.
/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Portland DesignWorks, a bicycle accessory brand known for making simple, beautiful gear for everyday cycling, will launch a new line of soft goods at the MADE Bike Show this weekend, August 23-25.
Portland Design Works tapped local tattoo artist Jake Tong to collaborate on the design. The black and white illustration features two mice riding a tandem bicycle despite a cloud’s best efforts to rain out their adventure—an homage to both Portland Design Works’ soggy Pacific Northwest home as well as the positive, go-with-the-flow attitudes of everyday cyclists.
“When I heard that the original Steamboat Willie cartoon was entering the public domain this year, I immediately wanted to do some sort of fun bike mash-up,” said Portland Design Works Co-founder, Erik Olson, “The positive vibes of the characters really lend themselves to the ‘all days are nice days’ ethos of the year-round rider.”
The new Tandem Mice design will be featured on shirts, ball caps, knit hats, and water bottles, and will be available for the first time at the MADE Bike Show from August 23-25. Online sales will launch on August 27th at ridepdw.com. Product images are available in advance here.
