Raide Wins Prestigious 2024 ISPO Award for LF 30L Ski Touring Backpack

December 4, 2024

The flagship pack from Raide stood out to jurors for its thoughtful organization, lightweight construction, and quick access to avalanche gear.

Carbondale, CO (December 4, 2024) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ — Raide, the company dedicated to making equipment and apparel for efficient human-powered movement in the mountains, won a prestigious ISPO Award in the Snowsports category for its LF 30L ski touring backpack.

“This is a nicely executed lightweight pack solution for ski touring,” said the ISPO Award Jury. “It stays in shape and allows neat organization of your stuff even when fully loaded. Further, it is lightweight, and makes accessing avalanche gear quick and easy.”

According to ISPO, the annual award honors “the most innovative products and services in the sports industry and offers brands, consumers, media and retailers an overview of the most exciting products that the sports world currently has to offer.”

“To get an ISPO Award within one year of launching the brand means a lot as it validates our commitment to performance and function,” said founder and CEO Kyle Siegel.

The ISPO Award Jury named three primary reasons for selecting the LF 30L:

  • Access to avy tools without removing one’s pack
  • Back panel access with composite molded back panel for more comfort when fully loaded
  • Integrated helmet carry and stash pocket

Like all Raide products, the LF 30L began with a problem to solve. Unsatisfied with existing ski touring backpack designs, Siegal set out to create a pack that could enhance—rather than disrupt—a skier’s flow in the mountains.

“The design ethos of the LF 30L pack is not to develop the lightest pack on the market, but a lightweight, fully featured pack that makes you faster through better access, organization, and comfort,” said Siegel.

The LF 30L features a patent-pending avalanche tool pocket design that gives rescuers fast, but separate, access to their shovel and probe without taking it off. This ensures that rescuers can efficiently retrieve the tools they need right when they need them—especially during burials, when every second counts.

During standard use, skiers can access the main compartment of the LF 30L through a rolltop closure or via a zippered back panel. The latter permits users to easily access their gear even while skis are mounted to one of the pack’s three carry options. An ultralight molded composite in the back panel keeps the LF 30L stable and comfortable—something packs with similar features often fail to achieve—and a removable rigid frame inside the pack ensures users’ skis stay steady on the bootpack. An integrated helmet carry maintains the pack’s streamlined appearance and does not interfere with its diagonal ski carry option.

First released in 2023, the LF 30L has been updated for 2024 and is now among an expanded line of packs that include a 40L option as well as versions optimized for compatibility with the Safeback SBX air supply system, which won an ISPO Award in 2022.
