Snow Peak and Rumpl Partner Again to Launch an Updated Fire-Resistant Blanket
January 31, 2022
Portland-based brands design a limited-edition blanket for cozy nights around the fire
PORTLAND, Ore. (Jan 31, 2022) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Today, Snow Peak, the leading Japanese outdoor design brand, and Rumpl, the leader in technical blankets, are teaming up to announce the launch of the next generation limited-edition NanoLoft® Takibi Blanket.
The brands’ Portland-based teams first collaborated in 2020 to design a fire-resistant blanket that combines Rumpl’s sustainable proprietary 100% post-consumer recycled NanoLoft insulation with Snow Peak’s own recycled ripstop with fire-resistant aramid material. The result was an environmentally-friendly product perfectly suited for cozy nights around the fire.
This year, the blanket is updated with a higher-performing, eco-conscious face fabric. A proprietary blend of natural fire-resistant fibers, mixed with cotton and polyester, the face fabric maintains performance, softness and strength. With no chemical coating, the fibers preserve fire-resistance through machine washing, and ensure no harmful chemicals leach into the water supply. This updated version also comes in a modern tan colorway, Amenity Dome, inspired by Snow Peak’s iconic tent collection.
The NanoLoft Takibi Blanket will be available for purchase on February 10 via both brands’ ecommerce sites, as well as at Snow Peak’s brick-and-mortar retail locations in Portland and Soho. The blanket will also be available internationally in Japan, Korea and Taiwan.
Reconnecting with friends and nature, Takibi (bonfire in Japanese) is a foundational element of outdoor culture. Takibi Time provides a restorative opportunity to slow down, unplug from the stresses of modern life. The NanoLoft Takibi Blanket complements Snow Peak’s extensive line of Takibi products, built for time around the bonfire.
“It was an easy decision to partner with Snow Peak again given their emphasis on designing high-quality, beautiful product,” said Wylie Robinson, chief executive officer and founder of Rumpl. “For this year’s launch, we improved the fire resistance of the blanket and incorporated Snow Peak’s iconic tan colorway, something their consumers will immediately recognize and appreciate. We’re confident this blanket will elevate your around-the-fire Takibi experiences with friends and family.”
Solving the common problem of burn holes in a favorite blanket or jacket from errant sparks, the NanoLoft Takibi Blanket’s topside is a fire-resistant woven fabric blend of Mono-Acrylic and Cotton Ripstop. Each blanket features Rumpl’s 100% post-consumer recycled proprietary NanoLoft insulation, which is made up of tiny circular clusters that mimic the properties of down. Designed to be both durable and functional, users can spend more time enjoying the fire and less time brushing away sparks.
“Time by the fire – what we like to call takibi time – is a staple in outdoor culture. At Snow Peak, we believe Takibi Time is one of the best ways to slow down and reconnect to nature and one another. For years, we’ve designed gear and apparel that create restorative fireside experiences,” said Matt Liddle, chief operating officer at Snow Peak USA. “Our first collaboration with Rumpl was a success, and we’re proud of the second product we’ve created together.”
