Solo Stove Helps Build Backyards and Memories with Project Good Backyard Makeover
July 20, 2021
The brand’s new initiative will create backyard sanctuaries for deserving families
SOUTHLAKE, Texas (July 20, 2021) – Solo Stove, designers of beautiful, easy-to-use fire pits and camp stoves, is proud to announce Project Good Backyard Makeover, an extension of Solo Stove’s Project Good, which seeks to share smiles with the brand’s community and inspire others to do the same. The Backyard Makeover initiative will kick off with a backyard renovation for a deserving family in the local Dallas-Fort Worth area.
“The Project Good Backyard Makeover is a continued step toward giving back and helping more families get outdoors and make amazing memories with the people they love,” said John Merris, Solo Stove CEO. “We love seeing how our community enjoys Solo Stove moments and being able to make this happen is a true blessing and honor.”
Project Good Backyard Makeover was developed with the desire to build spaces where deserving families can spend quality time together and build memories. The inaugural renovation will benefit a single mother in Dallas and her two sets of twins, ages nine and sixteen. One of the family’s eldest children was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2020. After several rounds of chemotherapy, the child is in remission, though their immune system is still compromised, so having a sanctuary at home is more vital than ever. The backyard renovation will offer an inviting space for the family to comfortably come together to create moments and memories.
With the help of several other local partners, Solo Stove is providing a full-scale makeover to create the ultimate backyard oasis. The project’s partners include:
- 6 Stones – A local charity that aims to serve the community. 6 Stones introduced the family to Solo Stove and performed maintenance on the home’s exterior.
- Lawn Connections – A premier lawn and landscaping company. Lawn Connections redesigned the home’s hardscape and installed a new patio and a stone surround for a Solo Stove fire pit.
- Toja Grid – A do-it-yourself pergola company. Toja Grid donated a pergola kit to provide an outdoor living structure for relaxing under.
- Nebula by Anker Innovations – A global leader in the home projector market. Nebula has donated a projector to create an outdoor movie theater space.
- Outer – The outdoor furniture brand on a mission to bring life outside. Outer donated a five-seater sofa for the family to use as they lounge around the fire and enjoy outdoor movie nights together.
“We thought we were getting a fire pit, and it turned into a backyard oasis!” said the recipient of the inaugural backyard makeover. “We had no idea what to expect. We were very shocked when we found out everything that was going to be happening back here, but we are super excited and grateful for everything that Solo Stove has done.”

We accomplish that goal by building a coalition of churches, businesses, and others that provides solutions to meet needs within our communities. In 2009, 6 Stones was birthed from the realization that our community and significant portions of Northeast Tarrant County have undergone radical demographic and socioeconomic change. Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD, for example, has become one of the most diverse school districts in the United States; local students represent 119 nations and their families speak 74 dialects at home. As of 2019, 57.4% of students in HEB ISD live at or below the federal poverty line. From school supplies and emergency food support to home repairs for our disadvantaged neighbors, 6 Stones is dedicated to providing the resources that local families need to stabilize, grow, and thrive.
