Stanley Recalls 2.6 Million Travel Mugs Due to Burn Complaints

Stanley is recalling 2.6 million stainless steel travel mugs after the company received multiple reports that faulty lids caused burns requiring medical attention, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

There have been more than 91 reports worldwide of the lid detaching during use, resulting in 38 burn injuries. There have been 16 reports in the U.S. resulting in two burn injuries. A total of 11 consumers required medical attention.

“These mugs’ lid threads can shrink when exposed to heat and torque, causing the lid to detach during use, posing a burn hazard,” reads the Dec. 12 notice from CPSC. The Daily Outdoor Retailer
