Therm-a-Rest® advances sustainability initiatives with expanded line of fast and light sleeping bags for spring 2022
August 10, 2021
The new and updated sleeping bags are now built from a 100% recycled nylon that is softer, lighter and more durable - striking the ideal balance of sustainability and technical performance.
SEATTLE, Wash. (August 10, 2021) — Ever since Therm-a-Rest® introduced the first-ever self-inflating sleeping pad more than 50 years ago, it has been leading technical innovation and design in the camp comfort space with the goal of creating the most comfortable night’s sleep under the stars. Spring 2022, the brand celebrates its 50th anniversary by expanding its fast and light collection of sleeping bags with a new temperature offering in the Parsec Collection [Parsec 0 and 32] and updates to existing best-sellers.
The expanded line now features 100% recycled GRS-certified nylon shell and liner, helping to reduce waste along the textile supply chain, while meeting the technical performance standards of Therm-a-Rest’s fast and light consumer. The new nylon fabric is not only softer, lighter and more comfortable than existing fabrics, but it’s just as durable. The new bags also feature an improved – roomier – fit and added details like a no-fuss, anti-snag zipper. In addition to the sleeping bag updates, the brand will be introducing its most compact and packable blanket to the line, Juno Blanket, and update a tried and true classic, the Trail Scout sleeping pad.
Therm-a-Rest is expanding its Parsec Collection of fast and light sleeping bags with two new temperatures, 0 and 32-degrees, as well as updating the existing Parsec 20. The family of three now boast a new cold-weather-conquering design and 100% recycled shell and liner. Sustainable 800 fill Nikwax Hydrophobic Down absorbs 90% less water and dries three times faster than other down. The no-fuss, anti-snag zipper prevents accidental tears and the refined fit – tested and perfected in Therm-a-Rest’s onsite cold chamber – achieves optimal thermal efficiency and comfort with precise down distribution, a roomier fit and Toe-asis Foot Warmer Pocket.
In addition to the Parsec Collection, Therm-a-Rest will be introducing a new temperature offering in the Ohm Collection, Ohm 20. The versatile semi-rectangular sleeping bag cuts weight and allows for a more spacious and warm night at camp. The full-length zipper allows you to use it as a sleeping bag and blanket – and you can zip two together for a cozy two-person sleeping bag. The 900-fill Nikwax Hydrophobic Down absorbs 90% less water and dries 3-times faster without using dangerous PFCs. The box baffled construction uses mesh walls to precisely distribute the down for maxim loft and minimal cold sports and a new drawcord at the collar seals in the heat.
Additional updates to the insulation line include the ultralight, synthetic-fill Space Cowboy 45 and Polar Ranger -20. Both the Space Cowboy 45 and Polar Ranger -20 now feature a 100% recycled nylon shell and liner and added details like lighter SynergyLink Connectors to easily secure your bag to a pad, a refined fit and anti-snagging zippers. Therm-a-Rest will also be introducing its most compact and packable blanket to its line, the Juno Blanket, and updating a fan-favorite, the Compressible Pillow. A new cinch cord on the Compressible Pillow allows you to tighten and loosen the cover to customize the firmness of the pillow. In the mattress category, the new Trail Scout brings comfort to the backcountry at an approachable price point, helping make backcountry adventures accessible to everyone. The updated pad provides elevated comfort thanks to a new woven fabric that is softer to the touch and more comfortable to sleep on. With more people camping than ever before, the new Trail Scout — along with the rest of Therm-a-Rest’s field-proven lineup — offer new and experienced campers alike the chance to confidently chase magical nights under the stars.
The above new product will be available to consumers spring 2022. For more information on Therm-a-Rest and its collection of award-winning pads, sleeping bags, pillows and more, visit www.thermarest.com.
