Thousand and Rareform Create Limited-Edition Handlebar Bag Made of Recycled Billboards
October 1, 2024
Los Angeles (Oct. 1, 2024) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Vintage-inspired helmet brand Thousand has joined forces with Rareform, creators of versatile handbags made from recycled billboards, in a limited-edition Crossbody Handlebar Bag collection. The collaboration between the two southern California-based brands offers riders an eco-friendly, versatile lifestyle accessory that is durable and waterproof.
The Rareform x Thousand Crossbody Handlebar Bag is constructed out of upcycled billboards and banners from all over the country. Each bag will vary in color and pattern as the recycled materials are sourced from over 11,000 billboards that Rareform diverts from landfills on a monthly basis. The B-corp Certified bagmakers source 80% of the billboards in the United States.
Launched last year as an addition to its urban mobility accessories, the Crossbody Handlebar Bag easily transforms from on-bike storage to an on-body carryall. The bag can be quickly converted by disengaging soft-touch buckles and removing the handlebar hardware. While riding, an ergonomically-angled body strap can be stowed in an integrated interior pocket.
The recycled billboard material provides a water-repellant outer shell for riders in all-weather conditions. The storage capacity is roughly two-liters, allowing space for many of the most common commuting necessities. Thousand added a front reflective logo to increase rider visibility and safety.
The Thousand x Rareform Crossbody Handlebar Bag ($49 MSRP) is available today explorethousand.com.

About Thousand
Thousand was founded in 2015 after a friend of CEO, and founder Gloria Hwang passed away from a bicycle accident. The mission behind the sustainable, vintage-inspired helmet brand was to make safety seamless. Hwang wanted riders to have a helmet that could provide safety as well as compliment style. Initiated as a Kickstarter campaign, Thousand raised enough for initial helmet molds in one week. The Los Angeles-based brand has since established itself as the top choice for modern urban cyclists and expanded its product offerings to include adult, child and toddler helmet options, innovative lights, locks and multi-functional bags.
