Verde is one of seven finalists recognized in the Environmental Stewardship category for its communications strategy, best practices, and PR success of Live Monumental
BOULDER, Colo. (February 1, 2017) – Verde Brand Communications, a full-service, integrated brand communications agency, has been recognized as a finalist for PR News’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Awards in the Environmental Stewardship category for its PR and communications work on KEEN Footwear’s Live Monumental campaign.
The awards celebrate a distinguished circle of those holding the key to best practices in the CSR arena, and honors the top CSR campaigns of the year, the smartest communications initiatives, and the people behind them setting new standards of excellence and pointing the way for other organizations to follow.
PR News is the go-to source that serves the communications and marketing community at corporations, agencies, and nonprofits, and winners and honorable mentions of the CSR and Nonprofits Awards programs will be saluted at PR News’ Spring Awards Luncheon on March 22 at The National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
“We are extremely honored for this recognition, and without the amazing teamwork between the KEEN and Verde teams this wouldn’t have been possible,” said Kristin Carpenter-Ogden, Founder and CEO of Verde. “The tremendous amount of planning, coordination, and sheer boots-on-the-ground effort that the Live Monumental team at KEEN deployed supplied our agency with the necessary tools to create high-level PR strategy, results-driven tactics, and significant media awareness to deliver success for the campaign.”
With 30 staff and offices in Jackson, Wyo., and Boulder and Durango, Colo., Verde is a finalist for the award for its PR and communications strategy and execution of KEEN’s Live Monumental campaign. The national movement advocates for the protection of more than three million acres of public lands and national monument designation to create lasting change for future generations to enjoy.
The campaign targeted five distinct areas in the U.S. to preserve, two of which were protected as National Monuments by the Obama Administration using the Antiquities Act, and a third protected Wilderness by an Act of Congress. Those include: Gold Butte in Nevada (national monument), Mojave Trails in southern California (national monument), and Boulder-White Clouds in Idaho (wilderness). The two remaining areas the campaign aims to protect are: Owyhee Canyonlands in Oregon, and Birthplace of Rivers in West Virginia.
During the year-plus long campaign, Verde generated more than 390 million media impressions, that included: NPR, National Geographic, BBC, The Hill, and Huffington Post. To raise awareness, the campaign was marked by a 10,000-mile cross-country road trip in a yellow 1976 RV, where Verde worked with KEEN to drive media exposure and supported stops in more than 25 states with more than 75 events – including a reception on Capitol Hill. Verde also assisted the campaign in capturing more than 50,000 petition signatures and rallying support from more than 60 businesses.
Throughout 2016, Verde led communications strategy and media execution for the campaign’s short documentary film and 10-stop national film tour in conjunction with the Wild & Scenic Film Festival, and helped elevate awareness of the campaign’s partnership with the Outdoor Foundation’s Campus Challenge to bring the film to 90 college campuses across the country to engage one million students.
