Boston, Massachusetts, January 31st, 2023 – American national and Team Vibram athlete, Michael Mawn, took first place in the men’s snowboard category at the first stage of the Freeride World Tour for the second year in a row with a very technical and risky line. His 93 points renders him one of the favourites in the competition.
Baqueira Beret in Spain was once again the stage for the thrill of one of the most spectacular winter sports events in the world, the Freeride World Tour, thanks to a Sunday spent with the 50 best skiers and snowboarders in the world and with 17,000 skiers in the resort, 5,000 of whom skied in the area during the competition.
Vibram, the brand leader in the development and manufacturing of high-performance rubber soles, is consolidating its position as event sponsor after years collaborating with some of the world’s best riders, having developed specific technologies and sole designs to provide high grip and durability on the hardest surfaces at low temperatures.
“I love being back here, it’s my favourite stop and the fans are very welcoming. An avalanche swept away the line I had planned, so I had to choose another one, which made me a bit nervous. But I found good snow and I reached top speed. I was very happy to be here with everyone.” Said Michael Mawn.
The best freeriders in the world will have little time to rest as they prepare for the next event, the Ordino Arcalís Pro, which will be taking place from 4th to 9th February, 2023.
