Premium electric bikes breaking the mold; message to be spread throughout cycling, lifestyle, motorsports industries and beyond
Santa Clara, CA (January 24, 2018) — To further bolster brand awareness in its Bay Area home base, and its growing North American presence, ebike transportation brand Vintage Electric has hired Park City-based, cycling and outdoor specialists SIMBOL Communications as their Public Relations agency of record. The move follows the recent opening of a new showroom that features all their newest models, located adjacent to their Santa Clara HQ, which they hope will draw more local attention as well.
While SIMBOL has a particularly strong presence in the bike industry, they’ll be working on growing the brand’s presence among a wide variety of consumers and publications, from luxury lifestyle to men’s interest, business, motorsports, etc. The Vintage Electric staff prefer to call themselves a “transportation” brand, rather than a bike brand, and they consider these an entirely new form of personal transportation – a motorcycle/bike hybrid of sorts. For many of their typical consumers, in fact, this may be the impetus to get back on a bike after a long break.
“Our typical consumer is often less interested in this as a bicycle and more interested in the transportation and performance benefits, along with their elegant style, and outstanding quality: Many are looking for a pedal-powered equivalent to their classic sports car or motorcycle, while others simply demand the most fun and efficient form of transportation they can find,” says Scott Brown, CEO. “And everything with our brand is designed to mimic that high-end vehicle-shopping experience, from our gorgeous new showroom adjacent to our Santa Clara HQ, to our home delivery system for new bikes, and even our at-home service program that sends the shop right to consumers’ doors.”
SIMBOL welcomes the challenge, and feels well-suited for the brand. “When Vintage Electric hired us, the first thing we asked was ‘when do we get ours?’” says cofounder Nic Sims with a smile. “These bikes are as gorgeous as they are meticulously crafted. And they’re SO much fun! And with our wide range of expertise in so many compatible fields, we’re confident we can alert the masses – in and well outside of the cycling crowd – that Vintage Electric has the right bike for just about everyone, and there’s no longer an excuse to put off buying an ebike for commuting, running errands, or just cruising through town.”
So what sets Vintage Electric bikes apart? All feature pedal-assist power from a rechargeable battery, like most standard ebikes, but that’s where the similarities end: These bikes are in a league of their own, with timeless automotive-inspired lines and Vintage Electric’s signature alloy battery housings mounted into the frames like iconic motorcycles of yore. They offer two main platforms: throttle bikes and pedal-assisted bikes. The Tracker and Scrambler models are designed as throttle bikes, meaning riders can power themselves at the twist of a throttle similar to motorcycles, but they still have the option to pedal. The Café model is a pedal-assisted bike, meaning when riders pedal it automatically kicks in the power boost from the motor, but it turns off when coasting. They’re also built more like motorcycles, with a custom-designed chassis which provides an incredibly confident ride at any speed. Perhaps most importantly, they offer a “Race Mode” – which can be turned on and used in accordance with local laws – allowing these bikes to go up to a stunning 36 mph on most models (the new Cafe tops out at an equally impressive 28 mph).
