Minus33 launches WoolTek Expedition Glove line, featuring virgin wool insulation sourced in Europe

October 30, 2024

Naturally antimicrobial insulation takes the funk out of hardworking winter gloves

ASHLAND, NH /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Minus33 is bringing five generations of wool expertise into its new line of cold weather gloves and mitts, the WoolTek Expedition line, built for extreme winter conditions.

Available in glove, mitt and three-fingered glove configurations, every detail of the WoolTek Expedition line has been carefully considered to deliver the best possible protection against cold and moisture while also optimizing durability and breathability.

While we’ve long been a leader in next-to-skin merino base layers, we’re proud to be embracing the new technologies in wool insulation that make these WoolTek gloves so special,” said Minus33 President Lawson Glidden. “No more cold hands, no more musty gloves.”

WoolTek gloves and mitts use a cutting-edge renewable insulation from Lavalan, created from traceable, cruelty-free European wool that is combined with a biodegradable corn-derived binding agent. A final thermal treatment process binds the fibers together to ensure the insulation will maintain its loft for many seasons of hard use.

Premium, reinforced goat leather on the palm ensures both durability and dexterity in all conditions, while PFAS-free shell, HDry membrane and lining materials repel moisture and wind.

Touchscreen-friendly finger pads allow easy device usage and a tall gauntlet cuff with shock cord adjuster tightens down over sleeves to seal out the elements. A carabiner finger clip allows for easy hanging and storage after a long day out. WoolTek gloves are offered in all-black or natural tan colorways, and MSRP for all three styles is $169.99.

About Minus33

Minus33 offers the finest quality Merino wool base layers & apparel at a price that everyone can afford. Carrying forward over 108 years of wool garment manufacturing expertise, Minus33 was created by the wool experts of the former L.W. Packard Co., in 2002, as a response to the changing global trade and manufacturing landscape. In 2020, the brand set out to bring wool production back to Ashland, New Hampshire, with its Mountain Heritage line of socks, extending a local tradition dating back to 1840, when the Briggs brothers of Leeds, England, built a woolen mill on the Squam River, manufacturing wool products, hosiery, gloves, sporting equipment and paper. In 1916, Luther W. Packard of Berwick, Maine, purchased the mill and named it L.W. Packard. For more history on the L.W. Packard Mill and Minus33, read Our Story.
