Outdoor Element, the Outdoor Adventure and Survival Gear Brand, Announces 2X+ Revenue Growth in 2024

December 10, 2024

December 10, 2024 /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Outdoor Element, the Colorado-based outdoor hardgoods brand and REI Path Ahead Ventures Program Alumni, announced it has more than doubled YoY sales with the majority of growth coming from the wholesale market. That growth has led to the brand reinvesting in itself by: purchasing another company, Fiber Light the maker of products like Fiber Light Fire Starter, moving its headquarters from the founder’s garage to its first warehouse, and hiring a warehouse manager to oversee omnichannel order fulfillment.

Outdoor Element launched two new adventure knives for the Bushcraft, Hunting, and Camping audience, The Scout and Flicker Feather, which delivered over $200,000 in sales on Kickstarter in the spring and summer of this year. The brand quickly offered these products to its Wholesale accounts in late summer, adding to the already successful Contour Feather Adventure Survival Knife.

The success of these three blades plus omnichannel growth of core products like the Firebiner Fire-Starting Carabiner, Charlotte’s Webbing Camp Organizer, and Omni-Tensil the all-in-one utensil pack has provided the funding for the brand to make strategic investments. Since the brand’s inception in 2017, founder Mike Mojica wanted to build and support other outdoor entrepreneurs by selling non-Outdoor Element products on its website. Fiber Light’s fire starter products were one of the best-selling products on the site that wasn’t made by Outdoor Element. When the company came up for sale, Mike and the team took immediate action to make the acquisition.

Fiber Light’s best selling tinder product is produced through a proprietary process in the USA from all-natural wood fiber and wax. Outdoor Element will move production from Oregon to Colorado, keeping the Made in the USA, natural ingredients, and method of production intact.

“I always wanted to offer products that were made of natural ingredients, and manufactured in the USA, but that was a tall task for our hardgoods while fulfilling our mission of providing the best outdoor gear at prices anyone can afford. Over the years I’ve gotten to know Justin Lair (owner of Fiber Light) and I thought he made the best tinder on the market. Seeing how well our products pair together, I saw an opportunity to fulfill a dream of mine and offer these great products to our audience directly.”

After the sale, Fiber Light’s fire-starting products will be repackaged under the Outdoor Element brand and offered to all existing wholesale retail partners currently selling Outdoor Element. At the same time, current Fiber Light retail accounts can bring on the full Outdoor Element catalog of products.

As sales continued to increase in 2024, Outdoor Element needed more space, and in October of this year moved out of Mike and COO, Joe Brown, garages into 1,600 sq feet of warehouse and office space at ReadySpaces in Englewood, CO. That added space already has plans for it with a goal of eight new products for 2025 and increasing the brand’s patent count of nine granted, four pending, and two trademarks. The brand looks forward to sparking adventure and helping more people “Explore with Confidence” with continued growth in the coming year.
