Leading Kids Bike Brand Introduces Clothing Label for Young Riders and Adventurers
Austin, TX November 26, 2019 – woom, with its ingeniously designed, ergonomically adapted, superlight children’s bikes, has become one of the best-loved bicycle brands in the United States and Europe over the past six years. Now, the world of woom has gotten a bit bigger with the arrival of a children’s clothing line equipped for biking and outdoor adventure. The WORN TO BE WILD label offers head-to-toe clothing made from gentle cotton fabric, from T-shirts for play to technical jackets for when the kids want to stay outside. These clothes are perfect for everyday wear, but a closer look reveals surprising bike-related features and designs.
“The WORN TO BE WILD line represents a pivotal moment for the woom brand, “shared Mathias Ihlenfeld, woom bikes USA CEO and Owner. “We set out to create a cycling brand built specifically to serve the needs and foster the imagination of all kids. And, we have been grateful that our bikes and accessories are adored amongst both children and parents. A functional clothing line is our next step in building a youth lifestyle brand designed for and inspired by riding and outdoor exploration.”
Adventure Jacket: the award-winning newcomer
At the heart of the collection is the multifunctional CINOTERRA Adventure Jacket in sun-yellow with a removable hood that can be flipped up over a bicycle helmet, a removable inner vest and a practical back pocket. It is also equipped with integrated gloves as well as inside straps so kids can carry it like a backpack. This summer the jacket was awarded the Eurobike Award in the apparel category at Eurobike in Friedrichshafen, Germany, the leading cycling tradeshow globally.
What really sets the jacket apart is the tightly woven all-weather fabric that is both water-repellent and windproof, transforming natural cotton into a high-performance fabric. The same manufacturing process was used to fashion the rugged fabrics used by the British Army in the 1930s. woom sought out a manufacturer specializing in this production technique and is now one of the very few companies offering clothing made from this elaborately made cotton fabric.
T-shirts: more than just a basic
The bike-fit cut of the WORN TO BE WILD tops means that they’re shorter in front and longer in the back to prevent exposure from the elements. The shirts also feature one or several back pockets with a button or zipper for storing snacks. Internationally acclaimed illustrators, like Harald Lustinger and Justyna Stasik, designed the whimsical T-shirt prints. The collection’s caps in the eye-catching pink are printed with “giro del gelato”, a homage to Bella Italia, its rich history of cycling and its delicious ice cream. The MOLINA winter cap is proof that winter is far from being the end of biking season. The cap fits neatly under a helmet, covers the ears, and keeps the head nice and warm, even in icy winds.
Jeans with candy storage
The woom Vélo Jeans are also perfect for everyday wear, while offering the best possible comfort and safety for riding. Crafted from elastic cotton fabric with an adjustable waist, cut with an insert in the crotch to allow for freedom of movement, and reflective prints on the back pocket and the cuffs. And thanks to the unmistakable message ‘Your candy storage’ printed on the pocket lining, mom and dad know exactly where to check for candy before popping the Vélo Jeans into the washing machine.
Classics, re-imagined
Reflective stripes and prints ensure visibility on the road. The new woom clothing collection is available in our online shop. Timeless unisex classics and basics that defy being pigeonholed into seasonal lines, all made from gentle cotton.
