Arcade Memorial Day Give-Back to Benefit High Fives Foundation’s Military to the Mountains Program
May 23, 2023
From May 27 to May 29, $5 from Every Belt Purchased at ArcadeBelts.com Will Go Directly to Support Military to the Mountains
/OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Arcade, a brand that has long championed the belief that the outdoors should be accessible to all, is taking a different approach to Memorial Day with a give-back program to benefit the High Fives Foundation’s Military to the Mountains Program. Military to the Mountains introduces veterans and first responders to the healing effects of skiing and snowboarding with the goal of offering an opportunity to tap back into their physicality by pushing through mental and physical barriers. Experiencing the mountains for the first time post-injury redefines their limits and ignites new passion to take ridge lines they no longer thought were possible.
“It’s part of our DNA at Arcade to rethink our impact during holiday sales and instead of a traditional discounting, creating opportunities to support amazing initiatives like High Fives Foundation’s Military to the Mountains program, which makes a genuine impact in people’s lives,” said Kevin Walker, Director of Marketing, Arcade.
From Saturday May 27 to Monday, May 29, Arcade will donate $5 from every belt sold at Arcadebelts.com to Military to the Mountains.
Since 2015, 165 veterans have been supported through the Military to the Mountains program. Each year, 22 veterans and first responders are selected from the partnership between the Adaptive Training Foundation in Dallas, Texas and Reno, Nevada. They are provided the opportunity to train for nine weeks, preparing for one week of skiing and snowboarding at Palisades Tahoe.
“Growing up with a father that served in a various number of branches of the military, it is a honor to provide this support to a group that is super close to my childhood upbringing and for those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom as a country” says Roy Tuscany, CEO of High Fives Foundation. “Partnering with Arcade to support our Military to the Mountains program helps bring critically wounded veterans back to community through sport, and finding the ultimate way to slide again via skiing or snowboarding as a form of healing, bonding, and empowering oneself through a new challenge.”
Every year, Arcade works to support High Fives Foundation, among other organizations. In March 2023, Arcade raised over $164,000 for High Fives Foundation through its Mothership Classic ski-a-thon fundraiser.
HIGH FIVES FOR OUR PARTNER
The High Fives Foundation is a Tahoe-based nonprofit on a mission to help people with life-altering injuries get back to snowboarding, skiing, surfing, mountain biking and beyond. Along with specialized grants, programs, and a cutting-edge facility called the CR Johnson Healing Center, the Foundation designs education around preventing life-changing injuries, and provides resources and hope if they happen.
Formed as a way to “pay-it-forward” by the founder, Roy Tuscany, after his own recovery from a spinal cord injury, High Fives has helped nearly 500 athletes and veterans across North America since its inception in 2009.
