Community activator Kayla Jeter gives nod to iconic Charlotte, NC race as the aspirational finish of the season-long wellness challenge
Charlotte, NC /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Around the Crown 10K Together with Truist, a Charlotte, NC running race with year-round activities focused on building community, celebrating diversity, and implementing sustainability in every facet of its event productions, proudly hosts the final event of the seventh year of the 100MilesofSummer, a large community challenge focused on wellness and movement, regardless of ability. Kayla Jeter, the founder of 100 Miles of Summer, in collaboration with Mad Miles Run Club, the largest Charlotte-based inclusive running community, invites participants to dream big and challenge themselves.
Jeter, wellbeing coach and fitness consultant, started 100MilesofSummer to encourage her Chicago neighbors and herself to continue working on their health, even through the warmest months of the year.
“Over the past seven years, 100MilesofSummer grew into a national phenomenon and this year we’re encouraging participants to set ambitious goals to celebrate the journey,” says Jeter, also a Lululemon and Specialized ambassador. “Moving past the 5K into some longer distances encapsulates what this season’s challenge is all about and we chose Around the Crown 10K as the final challenge because of their inclusive policies and iconic course. Around the Crown 10K and Mad Miles do so much for the Charlotte community that it is an honor to work with them for the grand finale of 2024’s 100 Miles of Summer!”
Being involved in the running community for many years, co-founders Brian Mister and his wife, Chelsea, saw a need to continue bringing runners together in a meaningful and accessible way. This year, the race welcomes back the Feetures First Timer’s Club training program, Pay What You Can Together with Truist entry fee program, the stroller division, a prize purse with inclusive initiatives, and a finish festival that embodies togetherness. As founding partners of the Low Impact Alliance, Around the Crown 10K is a leader in sustainable practices being a cupless race with water stations provided straight from the city hydrants on race day and recycled tees from local apparel company, Recover Brands.
“Doing the best for our community is important to the team at Around the Crown 10K, so it’s an honor that Kayla has selected Charlotte and our event to wrap up 100MilesofSummer” says Mister, Around the Crown 10K race director. “Kayla is a big inspiration for how we aim to operate and her mission to improve the wellness of her community is so compelling and potent that we are thrilled to help celebrate this year’s grand finale on September 1st!”

About Around the Crown 10K presented by Truist
Around the Crown 10K was founded in 2019 by Brian and Chelsea Mister to promote the simple act of putting one foot in front of the other to move Charlotte forward. The purpose is to show that running can make you healthier, happier, and more confident with no regard to age, cultural differences, gender, pace, or experience. With a year-long line-up of events, it becomes part race, part run, part community event, part celebration, and a tribute to Charlotte. Around the Crown 10K was made for everyone.
