Series to Explore Cultural and Economical Impacts of Hunting in Texas
Memphis, TN /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Blood Origins, a nonprofit organization dedicated to uncovering the real stories behind hunting and conservation, is proud to announce the release of Connecting the Dots: West Texas, the second episode in its impactful docu-series. Supported by the Frazier Family Foundation, this latest installment explores the essential role hunting plays in sustaining small-town economies across the vast, rugged landscape of West Texas.
Following the success of Connecting the Dots: South Texas, this new chapter dives deeper into the cultural and economic connections fostered by hunting in West Texas, a region defined by sprawling ranches, cattle traditions, and an enduring hunting heritage. The series challenges common misconceptions around hunting’s relevance, focusing instead on the people and businesses that rely on it as a lifeline for survival.
“In West Texas, hunting is more than a pastime—it’s essential to the livelihood of countless small communities,” says Robbie Kroger, founder of Blood Origins. “Our new episode sheds light on these often-overlooked connections, illustrating how hunting revenue helps keep local businesses open, jobs secure, and rural towns alive.”
Echoing this sentiment was Mayor of Alpine, Texas Catherine Eaves, an individual who has never hunted in her life but understands its role in the economical ecosystem.
“About 6,000 people live here. Tourism is our primary economic driver and economically, when hunters come in – they stay in our hotels, eat in our restaurants, hopefully shop in our little shops. When they spend time here, of course its good for the outfitter and the guides but its just overall good economically.”
Connecting the Dots: West Texas presents firsthand stories from individuals and families whose work and welfare are intrinsically linked to hunting and the economic stability it brings. By showcasing this network of interdependence, Blood Origins highlights the broader economic and conservation-based significance of hunting, underscoring its importance far beyond the boundaries of a single region.
With its poignant storytelling and insightful exploration, Connecting the Dots: West Texas furthers Blood Origins’ mission to provide a comprehensive, authentic narrative about the real impact of hunting.
