Cannondale Launches New Habit Mountain Bikes
April 4, 2023
The brand’s best-selling trail mountain bike lineup gets both refreshed and expanded with the new Habit and Habit LT.
Wilton, Conn. – April 4, 2023 /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Today, Cannondale unveiled its latest mountain bike offering, the all-new Habit. Significantly updated and refined, Cannondale’s best-selling, best reviewed mountain bike now comes in two distinct configurations: Habit and Habit LT.
“We built the Habits for mountain biking, pure and simple” said Scott Vogelmann, Cannondale product director for mountain bikes. “With these two platforms, we’ve got something for every kind of rider, and every style of riding, between the extremes of hardcore cross-country and full-on enduro racing. If you’re looking for good times in the dirt, Habit has just what you need.”
Habit is for the rider seeking the flow of a light, fast, and fun trail bike, while Habit LT is for those who get a thrill on the wilder end of the trail-ride spectrum. Both are built on a beautifully redesigned frame, in either full carbon or full aluminum, with size-specific geometry and suspension kinematics, as well as straightforward features that make them easy to live with and easy to love. No matter which one you choose, Habit’s engineered for as much fun as possible on the trail.
The new Habit hits the sweet spot for the fast and flowy side of the trail bike category with 130mm of travel in back and 140mm up front, in a light and all-around capable package. With its 65.5° head tube angle and steep 77.5° seat tube angle, plus light-weight trail componentry, and proper wheels and tires, it offers up the perfect balance of agility, stability, efficiency, and playfulness.
Habit LT, on the other hand, sets its sights a little bigger. Travel bumps up to 140mm in the rear and 150mm out front. The geometry is a bit slacker (64.7° head tube angle and 77° seat tube angle) for increased confidence at speed and through the rough, plus the spec sees a comparable bump in rowdiness. Aggressive wheels and tires with larger rotors, piggyback reservoir shocks, and burlier forks means it’s up for the wilder side of the trail. Bigger lines, steeper drops, all the way up to full Enduro racing – that’s where the Habit LT really comes alive.
Cannondale’s size-specific engineering philosophy – called Proportional Response – ensures riders get the best performance out of their Habit, regardless of their height. Cannondale adjusts the bike’s geometry, chainstay length, and suspension kinematics for each size of frame. This provides consistent performance across the range. The result is bikes with more control under braking, more efficiency while pedaling, and more confidence at speed, and more traction in any situation.
Designed to keep things simple and easy to live with, both Habit models feature standard metric shocks, threaded bottom brackets, SRAM’s universal derailleur hanger, internal cable routing, and the new 55mm chain line standard for tire clearance. It all makes upgrades easier, while minimizing downtime during maintenance.
The all-new Habit and Habit LT will be available in 3 carbon models (Carbon 1, 2, and Carbon LT 1) and 3 alloy models (3, 4, and LT 2), sizes XS-XL. Habit retails for $2,500 – $5,650.
