Asheville, NC – February 27, 2018 – Diamond Brand Gear, an American legacy in domestic outdoor gear manufacturing since 1881, is excited to announce the debut of the Belay Bag for outdoor enthusiasts. Utilizing upcycled materials and LEAN manufacturing techniques, the new Belay Bag is an update to a 1980’s Diamond Brand Gear favorite with more customizable options and micro-innovations.

“Our new Belay Bag design was inspired by those who enjoy the versatility of a pack that can take them from our renowned hiking trails to the local brewery scene afterwards,” states John Delaloye, CEO of Diamond Brand Gear. “While the bag pays homage to the original pack from the ‘80’s, it’s made to handle modern day needs with interchangeable straps and large front pockets to securely carry craft beer or other bottled drinks.”

Constructed of 1000D nylon and 70D upcycled polyurethane coated canvas scraps from Diamond Brand Gear’s Free Dome tents, the Belay Bag boasts large exterior pockets to hold a 32 oz. growler, large water bottle, or wine bottle. This American-made backpack also includes a padded laptop sleeve and additional interior pockets for storage. Completely interchangeable shoulder straps can be adjusted for size, style and color, or remove one and adjust to carry the bag as a slingpack. The hip strap and sternum strap are also completely removable with the ease of a snap. A padded back panel features 3D spacer mesh for thermal regulation, ventilation, comfort and protection while taking the load off of the spine.
