Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Unveils Athlete Roster, Event Changes For Return of Kings & Queens of Corbet’s

For the First Time Ever: Separate Ski and Snowboard Categories and $50,000 in Prize Money

(TETON VILLAGE, WYO.) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) today unveiled the athlete lineup for the seventh annual Kings & Queens of Corbet’s ski and snowboard invitational, welcoming back five previous champions and a deep roster of elite athletes who will push the limits of skiing and snowboarding in the Resort’s famous Corbet’s Couloir from Feb. 8-16.

This year’s Kings & Queens of Corbet’s marks the return of one of JHMR’s most highly anticipated events after the competition was called off in 2024 due to snow conditions and safety concerns for the participating athletes. Over 200 inches of snow at the summit and more expected before the event next month set the stage for an incredible competition.

Colby Stevenson (pictured below) and Claire McPherson will both return to JHMR to defend their 2023 crowns, while other past champions Karl Fostvedt (2018 and 2021), Piper Kunst (2021), and Veronica Paulsen (2020) are also slated to compete.

The Kings & Queens of Corbet’s competition debuted in 2018, featuring equal prize money in an athlete-judged event. Each year, new tricks are thrown into the Couloir and throughout the run, such as double backflips, switch spins, and cork nines.

JMHR announced that it will award a total of $50,000 in prize money for this year’s Kings & Queens of Corbet’s competition, and that separate $5,000 awards will be given for the top male and female performers in both the ski and snowboard categories for the first time in the event’s history. Second-place finishers will take home $3,000 and the third-place finishers will claim $2,000. The highest-scoring ski or snowboard male and female will each take home a $5,000 bonus and earn the title of King and Queen of Corbet’s.

In addition to Stevenson and Fostvedt, the male freestyle ski competition will include 2018 Winter Olympic Slopestyle bronze medalist Alex Beaulieu-Marchand and two-time Winter X Games medalist Alex Hackel. McPherson, Kunst and Paulsen will compete in the women’s freestyle ski category, while four-time Olympian Sarka Pancochova and multiple Freeride World Tour podium finisher Erika Vikander lead the way among the female snowboarders. Olympian Yuki Kadono highlights the field in the male snowboard category.
