La Sportiva Debuts Three New Ski Boots and Expands Apparel for Fall 2018
January 11, 2018
January 11, 2018 (BOULDER, Colo.) – For Fall 2018, La Sportiva debuts three ski boots and further enhances its collection of ski mountaineering apparel. The Solar boot for men and Stellar boot for women are designed primarily for touring but may be an alternative boot option for entry-level skimo racers. The Racetron is a ski mountaineering made for training and for lighter racers.
“Our Fall 2018 collection of both ski hard goods and apparel continues to broaden our offering for winter enthusiasts,” said Jonathan Lantz, president of La Sportiva North America. “We pride ourselves on designing products that address specific needs in the industry, while appealing to backcountry skiers and racers alike, by providing gear that performs exceptionally well.”
The Solar for men and Stellar for women are revamped versions of the popular Sideral boot for men and Starlet boot for women. Compatible with all Tech, A.T. and TR2 bindings, these two-buckle, lightweight touring boots are designed for recreational backcountry touring but will also cross over to skimo racing. Both models have 3 forward-lean positions and 68-degrees of range of motion in walk mode. 90 Flex provides ample stiffness and support for downhill ski performance. La Sportiva Grip Guard technology is in compliance with ISMF standards. The Solar and Starlet will retail for $699.
The La Sportiva Racetron is a fast, high-performance race boot with a softer flex. The full Grilamid shell complies with ISMF standards. Designed for lighter skiers and junior racers, the Racetron forgoes a carbon cuff, adding a level of safety as well as reducing the overall price. The Cavobike Lever Pro mechanism provides full range of motion at 75 degrees, quick lockout and a 4-position forward lean. The Spider Buckle ratchet closure system works to distribute tension evenly reinforcing efficiency and comfort in both ascents and descents. Compatible with all types of crampons, The Racetron is more price friendly than top-end boots retailing at $799.
La Sportiva’s apparel program continues to steadily grow each season and for Fall 2018, a broader selection of base layers, insulation, and outerwear will be available. On the men’s side, the Pollux long sleeve is a mid-weight, half-zip, hooded base layer built with BeCool Yarn technology and features a body mapped venting system for breathability in all training conditions. The Pollux retails at $149. The Odyssey GTX is a full-zip, feather-light, GORE-TEX Active Shell jacket that every skier should have in their kit for $219. The Axiom Pant is a ski touring and alpine climbing pant that uses 4-way stretch fabric for La Sportiva’s best-fitting waist softshell at $169.
For women, the Emperor Pullover is a comfortable mid-layer featuring Pontetorto Technostretch fleece fabric and retails at $99. The Thema GTX is a new full-zip waterproof shell made with seam-taped GORE-TEX Active Shell that provides both the warmth and dryness desired in all training conditions. The Thema jacket will be accompanied by a pant utilizing the same technology and providing the same functionality for the lower half of the body. The Thema GTX jacket will retail for $349, and the Thema GTX pant will retail for $279.
