The Trail Sender™ and Kor Airshell™ collections mesh performance with trail style for backpackers, trail runners and day hikers
Richmond, Calif. /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – Mountain Hardwear, a leader in performance equipment and apparel for climbers, mountaineers and athletes, has introduced the new Trail Sender™ collection and the Kor Airshell™ series, an evolution of its popular Kor collection. Building upon the success of its PCT and JMT backpacking packs last season, Mountain Hardwear is expanding its focus on trail-specific gear through the latest apparel releases.
“Mountain Hardwear has had a rich history of designing gear and apparel for climbers, mountaineers and skiers, and now the brand is running head first into trail apparel,” said Brittany Beratlis, senior product line manager for sportswear at Mountain Hardwear. “Our product design team has been designing and testing our latest trail-focused apparel to provide the most comfortable, protective apparel for backpackers, hikers and outdoors enthusiasts.”
The new Trail Sender collection includes a pant and short option, both available in men’s and women’s styles.
Designed with slightly different features to promote comfort and convenience for men and women alike, such as differing waist bands and pocket styles, the Trail Sender Pant (MSRP $79) is made with ultralight travel and warm-weather hiking in mind. Constructed of a durable ultralight ripstop polyester fabric that is breathable and fast drying, the Trail Sender Pant has a fabric weight of just 2.74-ounces (93 g/m2) to keep weight to a minimum.
The men’s Trail Sender Pant features an adjustable waistband with an internal drawstring and button closure; plus, two side hand pockets, one secure zip pocket at the front right thigh, and a second secure zip pocket at the back right. The women’s style offers an elastic waistband with adjustable internal drawcord, secure zip pocket on the right thigh and two side snap hand pockets each with a reverse entry pocket flap.
Constructed of the same ultralight ripstop fabric as the pants, the Trail Sender Short (MSRP $69) is ready for thru-hikes, weekend backpacking trips, single-day adventures and adventure travel. The men’s Trail Sender Short features the same adjustable waistband, internal drawstring and snap closure system found in the pants and are offered in an eight-inch inseam. Meanwhile, the women’s shorts utilize the same elastic waistband and adjustable inner drawcord found in the pants and are offered in a three-inch inseam. Both men’s and women’s styles include a secure zip pocket at the right thigh and two hand pockets.
Building off Mountain Hardwear’s popular Kor Collection, the new Kor Airshell Warm Jacket, Kor Airshell Hoody and Kor Airshell Full Zip Jacket are built to tackle a variety of temperatures and conditions.
Designed to eliminate the need for frequent layer changes whether skiing, running, climbing or hiking, the Kor Airshell Warm Jacket (MSRP $200) combines lightweight insulation with a technical outer shell for a versatile and adaptable jacket. A soft, insulating and breathable brushed-back Airmesh liner provides warmth and helps regulate temperature, while a breathable, abrasion-resistant Pertex® Quantum Air 20D Stretch Ripstop outer shell – made of 59- percent recycled nylon – protects the wearer in changing conditions.
The Kor Airshell Warm Jacket features a scuba style hood with a rear halo cinch and full-length two-way front zipper for added adjustability; plus, two secure hand and chest pockets keep your essentials secure.
Intended for fast-paced pursuits where a hardshell is overkill and a midlayer fleece lacks protection, the Kor Airshell Hoody (MSRP $130) provides an ultralight, ultra-packable layer for singletrack jaunts and alpine endeavors. Offering the same Pertex Quantum Air 20D Stretch Ripstop fabric found in the Kor Airshell Warm jacket, the Kor Airshell Hoody has a redesigned construction for an improved fit while still protecting from light moisture and alpine gusts. The Kor Airshell Hoody also features a fitted scuba style hood, raglan sleeve construction and underarm gussets for freedom of movement.
For those that prefer a non-hooded style, the Kor Airshell Full Zip Jacket (MSRP $120) is a hoodless version of the Kor Airshell Hoody, featuring the same fabric construction and fit with a standup collar for added protection in changing conditions. Packability is emphasized for the Kor Airshell Hoody and Full Zip Jacket, respectively, each capable of folding into an internal stow pocket.
