February 5, 2025

Made in the USA, Powered by HEYLO Closed Loop Manufacturing, and Built from 100% Sustainable and Recycled Materials, Oka Launches to Market with an Aim of Redefining Active Recovery and Everyday Comfort

ATLANTA, GA, (February 05, 2025) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – Oka Brands, makers of comfort and casual footwear made in the USA since 1984, is launching a new brand and concept in active recovery, introducing Oka active recovery footwear. In celebration of every individual as an athlete, Oka recovery sandals are made in the USA, built from 100% recycled materials, and ultimately, recyclable, encouraging consumers to “Wear Your Values” while experiencing the utmost in premium comfort.

Oka’s debut, original sandal, is an active recovery flip-flop style, featuring soft, impact-absorbing cushioning for muscle relaxation, a textured sole for increased circulation, and a deep heel cup and substantial arch support for optimal pressure distribution. Lightweight, washable, and working toward zero waste in the next two years, Oka is coming to market with an eye to transform the meaning of maximum comfort in the active recovery space, with a new recovery slide style set to launch later in 2025.

“We are excited to introduce Oka, a fresh new vision in footwear that blends eco-friendly materials with ethical manufacturing practices,” said Pepper Harward, CEO of Oka Brands. “At Oka, we’re doing more than just making shoes—we’re making a commitment to creating the most effective and sustainable recovery shoes on the planet, made right here in the USA, at our Buford, Georgia headquarters.”

Initially available in 10 unique colorways, the Oka recovery flip flop is available direct-to-consumer now on the OKA Recovery online store for $49.95.

Closed-Loop, Sustainable, and Recyclable

Through HEYLO’s private label closed-loop manufacturing system, used shoes are recycled into new shoes. Much like a recycling symbol, customers will be encouraged to return used HEYLO-marked shoes to designated drop boxes. HEYLO already powers select styles from major footwear brands like Crocs, Ryka, and New Balance, along with every pair of Oka recovery shoes. Starting in Spring 2025, used shoes will be collected in designated drop boxes at to-be-announced retailers across the country. The worn shoes will be recycled into new pairs, ensuring nothing goes to waste.

Oka’s Commitment to Made-in-USA Manufacturing

Oka joins its family of Oka Brands in its commitment to continued manufacturing in the USA – a now 40-year tradition. When the Oka Brands factory first opened in 1984, 60% of American shoes were made domestically. Today, that figure has dropped to just 1%. While most of the footwear industry has outsourced production overseas, Oka is dedicated to shifting that reality by producing shoes locally, creating jobs, and supporting a truly sustainable, circular footwear economy.

Whether an active individual pushing through hard workouts, a top athlete competing in a triathlon, or those in physically demanding jobs, Oka is designed to provide active recovery and maximum comfort for people who do hard things.
