Free software improves camera resolution, while new desktop app offers alternative editing format
SAN FRANCISCO (Nov. 8, 2018) — Rylo, the San Francisco-based camera company that enables anyone to create unbelievable video, today announced an update that will enable users to expand their creative capabilities even further – all with the same camera.
With its unique approach to innovation through software, Rylo has been transforming the camera market since its initial product launch one year ago. Beginning today, Rylo owners will be able to download a free software update that will improve the camera’s 360-degree video capture from 4K to 5.8K resolution, the best on the market.
“When we set out to create Rylo, we wanted to offer an experience that truly put the consumer first,” said Rylo COO Chris Cunningham. “To our knowledge, no other camera company has ever improved its resolution without forcing users to buy a new camera or upgrade with expensive hardware. We’re really proud to be able to add value for our consumers, without charge—and we’re just getting started.”
To upgrade their camera, current Rylo users can simply plug into an iOS or Android phone and then update through the Rylo app. All new Rylo cameras will be ready to provide 5.8K resolution as soon as they’ve been plugged in to a compatible device and the newest software update has been completed.
In addition to the resolution upgrade, Rylo will also now offer a new desktop app that features all the same great editing capabilities and intuitive functionality consumers have come to expect from Rylo’s mobile app. The macOS version is available today, with a Windows version to follow in the coming months.
