Sam Smoothy Launches Massive Front Flip and Lands Impossible Crash

JACKSON, Wyo. (October 18, 2016) While filming in the Neacola Mountains for TGR’s twenty-first anniversary film, Tight Loose, skier Sam Smoothy left all his hesitations and fear in the Southern Hemisphere, launching a massive front flip, crashing hard, and somehow also skied out of another crash later in the trip. Smoothy instantly gained the respect of a fairly formidable trio of TGR athletes, Angel Collinson, Nick McNutt, and Sage Cattabriga-Alosa.

“You probably recognize Sam Smoothy from his winning run at Vallnord Arcalis during last year’s Freeride World Tour,” says TGR founder, Steve Jones. “The New Zealand skier made an impossible link up in mediocre snow conditions. Naturally, we at Teton Gravity Research knew that we had to get this kid up to Alaska. The hard-charging skiing and an infectiously comedic demeanor of this New Zealander embodying the spirit of what it means to be Tight Loose.”
