Saucony blood drives to benefit Boston Children’s patients; donors to receive a pair of Saucony running shoes in recognition of their ‘act of kindness’
WALTHAM, MA (April 11, 2023) /OUTDOOR SPORTSWIRE/ – To mark One Boston Day and the tragedy of April 15, 2013, global performance running lifestyle brand Saucony is teaming up with Boston Children’s Hospital to support a series of blood drives to benefit the Hospital’s Blood Donor Center. The blood drives will be held Friday, April 14; Saturday, April 15; and Sunday, April 16 to support the needs of Boston Children’s Hospital patients. As a thank you, the first 225 presenting donors will receive a voucher for a free pair of Saucony Triumph 20 sneakers. To schedule a blood donation appointment, please visit https://www.halfpints.childrenshospital.org/ or call 617-355-6677.
“When Mayor Wu put out a call to action for the community to come together for acts of kindness to honor those forever impacted by the 2013 Marathon tragedy, we turned to our friends at Boston Children’s Hospital — one of the hospitals that was on the front lines of the bombings — to see how we could best contribute,” said Anne Cavassa, Saucony president. “Our local blood supply is always vulnerable to shortages and one group of people hit particularly hard by blood shortages are pediatric patients. Our blood drives during One Boston weekend have the potential to provide blood to nearly 800 patients. We invite the community to donate in recognition of those who lost their lives and to celebrate our community’s spirit of care for one another.”
In honor of the victims, survivors and first responders of the 2013 Marathon, Saucony is also making a donation to Boston Children’s Trust, the philanthropically-focused resource of the hospital.
