SCARPA Spin Ultra wins Trail Runner Magazine Editors’ Choice Award
April 16, 2019
Award calls out new SCARPA trail shoe as a functional all-arounder for long distances or daily use.
BOULDER, Colo. (April 16, 2019) – SCARPA, an industry leader in performance footwear for all aspects of mountain sports, earned a 2019 Editors’ Choice Award from Trail Runner Magazine for its lightweight, highly cushioned new trail shoe, the Spin Ultra. The Spin Ultra’s design exemplifies SCARPA’s commitment to the highest levels of mountain sports through athlete-driven designs and the highest-quality materials.
“One of the lightest shoes we reviewed, the Scarpa Spin Ultra is a super functional all-arounder with a somewhat stiff yet softly cushioned midsole and high-density EVA insert for added protection,” Trail Runner’s editors wrote. “While the shoe performed well up to 50-mile distances, it’s a great daily grinder, and probably less of a racing shoe or mega-distance shoe due to its lightweight, simple design.”
Weighing in at just 9.3 oz. (Men’s 42), the Ultra features a 6 mm drop with a dual-density EVA midsole and a highly cushioned 24.5 to 18.5 mm stack height. The most cushioned in the Spin family, the Ultra represents a new standard in shoes designed for tackling tough terrain.
The Spin Ultra’s Vibram Litebase sole with Megagrip rubber allows SCARPA to shed weight at the sole base (.5mm as opposed to 1.5mm) while still retaining normal-sized lugs to ensure an outsole grippy enough to trust on slabs and uneven trails.
SCARPA’s Sock-Fit LW construction in the Ultra’s tongue wraps the forefoot in a stretchy softshell material, hugging the foot and providing responsive fit with reduced weight. An upper made with micro-nubuck and mesh also helps with the Ultra’s impressive weight and fosters breathable durability for longer warm weather excursions.
The Spin Ultra and the entire Spin collection are available now at North American brand retailers and at www.scarpa.com.
