Hafthor Bjornsson signs on to sponsorship through 2018
(SEPTEMBER 13, 2018 – NASHVILLE) – Swiftwick, the performance sock company with the “best socks you will ever wear guarantee,” announces it has signed Hafthor Bjornsson, World’s Strongest Man, as its newest elite athlete. Bjornsson joins the Swiftwick team as the brand captures the fitness market with the new Flite XT™, the world’s first dedicated cross-training sock.
Bjornsson was born in Reykjavik, Iceland, and spent his childhood working on the family farm. He began his athletic career as a basketball player, and eventually played professionally in Iceland. An ankle injury prompted him to start his strongman career, winning the title of World’s Strongest Man in 2018. Bjornsson was also cast as Ser Gergor “The Mountain” Clegane for the fourth season of HBO’s Game of Thrones.
“Swiftwick is gaining traction in the cross-training arena, and we felt Bjornsson was the perfect ambassador to bring onto our team,” said Chuck Smith, Swiftwick president. “He’s a remarkable athlete – the first person to have won the Arnold Strongman Classic, Europe’s Strongest Man, and World’s Strongest Man all in the same calendar year. We’re honored to have him represent our brand.”
Swiftwick’s new FLITE XT™ is the most technology advanced performance sock engineered to improve activities that require lateral motion. Its innovative GripDry™ Fiber and Anklelock™ Technology reduce movement inside the shoe and increases ankle support during high-intensity workouts.
Bjornsson has signed on to sponsorship through 2018. Follow him on Instagram @thorbjornsson and learn more about the FLITE XT™ cross-training performance socks at Swiftwick.com.
